petition1The Texas Nationalist Movement has been inundated for over two weeks now with memberships, inquiries and media requests. The pace has been frantic and our organization is growing by staggering percentages.

Wait.

Read that again. It says "TWO WEEKS".

This should give you a reason to pause and think about what that really means in the context of what is buzzing around the internet and the drone of the mass media.

Let me give you a short time line of events.

On October 31st the TNM did its final blitz promoting the Texas Independence Conference. This included a full-on assault of social media, email and advertising. And while many people that were impacted by this blitz were not able to register and attend the conference, our name and the issue of Texas independence entered the minds of many of those. We grew.

On November 3rd we held the Texas Independence Conference which featured scholars, authors, political activists, musicians, media representatives, and many others, who were all talking about Texas independence. People left that conference renewed in their belief that Texas independence was not only possible but necessary. Again, we grew.

Those people spent November 4th and 5th spreading the word to anyone and everyone who would listen about the Texas Nationalist Movement. Again, we grew.

Then November 6th happened. The election for President was held and the people of the United States voted for a direction that is the complete opposite of where Texas wants to go. For the past several years, we have heard repeatedly that the "straw that broke the camel's back" for many people would be this election. After the results, consider the camel's back broken.

All of those years that we had spent building members, followers, adherents and well-wishers meant that we had connected with hundreds of thousands of Texans. In addition, for well over a decade we had criss-crossed Texas, meeting with an connecting with Texans who were already in favor of Texas independence. More than that, we were, through every source available, preparing those who were undecided to  make their decision when their personal "threshhold" had been reached.

I had written a book, "Line In The Sand" some time back and had released it digitally this Summer as a free download. And people downloaded it by the tens of thousands.

Contrary to the prevailing opinion of the uninformed Left, all of this action, and the support gathered by it, was prior to the election.

On election night, those people in which was invested all of the time and resources came to their natural home - the Texas Nationalist Movement.

When they came they did everything that they possibly could to show their support. They became members. They volunteered. They joined the email list. They signed our petition. They called our toll-free hotline. They drove to and slipped notes under the door of our office saying that they would do whatever they could to help keep Texas free and independent.

They also spread the word and shared what they knew.

Our growth and the actions of these new members made headlines.

It wasn't long after that when one of our members posted a link on our Facebook to a petition hosted on the White House website which was asking the Federal Government to let Louisiana secede from the Union.

We applauded the efforts of the people who launched the petition and encouraged them, beyond expressing their opinion publicly, to begin to organize and place their focus on their elected representatives in Baton Rouge. All the while we handled our own growth, promoted the "Let Texas Decide" petition and, as an organization, rejoiced that other states were catching independence fever.

Shortly thereafter, a link appeared for a White House petition similar to the Louisiana petition that asked the Federal Government to let Texas peacefully secede.

We immediately began to spread the word that, while this peition was a well-intentioned means of bringing public attention to the issue, petitioning the White House was pointless, as Texas needed only to assert its independence under Article 1 Section 1 and Article 1 Section 2 of the Texas Constitution and did not need to ask anyone for it except the citizens of Texas.

As this petition went viral, we were further inundated with more members, more inquiries, more volunteers and more media requests from people who were not content to only sign a petition.

With each media interview, meeting and information request, when the White House petition was mentioned, we were very clear about our official position.

1) We did not start the White House petition.

2) We have our own petition which is directed at our State Government.

3) The White House petition will receive no useful response from an administration that is antagonistic to the principles of liberty.

4) The man who started it and the people who are signing it are bringing attention to the issue that Texans want to be free and independent and that is good for our cause.

This was, is and forever shall be our position on the issue. There are dozens of Texas independence petitions circulating now and all of them serve a purpose. They are giving Texans an outlet to vent their immediate, visceral reaction to their sudden realization that the Union is over.

However, petitions are not enough. The TNM knows it and has known it since the last legislative session. And this is where it gets real for Texans.

It is one thing to sign a petition. It feels good. But where Texans will have their real say is in going to the polls to cast a vote for Texas independence. That will not be had by asking for it in Washington, DC. The road to referendum runs through Austin and it is paved with the hard work and sacrifice of Texans who make it happen.

Regardless of what is said by the ceaseless drone of our unitelligent, uninformed, hypocritical opposition, we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Texas has the right to be free and independent.

Making that happen is the mission of the Texas Nationalist Movement.

Whether you are for or against the petition, whether you signed one, none or all of them, if freedom, liberty, a sound free-market economy and a Constitional Republic that can only be achieved through Texas independence is your goal, then we encourage you to join with your fellow Texans who have already chosen this path. We welcome you into the Texas Nationalist Movement.
