San Antonio, D.C.

About ten years ago, under a different mayor and city council, the people of San Antonio, TX solidly voted down a "light rail" proposal. Yesterday, against over-whelming opposition, the Mayor and City Council, voted 8-1 for a 180 million dollar, two mile long, light rail, Street car.

Oh, I am sorry; they don't consider this "light rail". Now, they don't know where they are going to put it, how they (the taxpayers, the same taxpayers who told them NO) will pay for it, or if the Federal Government (those same taxpayers again) will help pay for it. It seems politicians everywhere, in our city councils, our mayors, governors, and state legislators are taking lessons in how to "Lord it over" the people. A few months ago this same group of City idiots voted to change the name of historic Durango Blvd in San Antonio to Cesar Chavez Blvd costing the tax payers $100,000 and this does not include the cost to businesses and residents who will have to change stationary, signage, etc. I have nothing against Mr. Chavez, who did do some good things, but this is not something you spend taxpayer money on without their approval and there are proper ways of paying for things like this. The people of San Antonio need to absolutely throw these delusional bums to the curb and tell them if they ever want to run for public office again to move to Washington, D. C. This is not how government is supposed to work in a Constitutional Republic! These folks seem to think by doing these "great" things they will have their names written in heaven or at least in the history books for their "great" accomplishments. Remember, the government has nothing but that which it steals from the people. In San Antonio, the Regional Mobility Authority is bound and determined to screw the people over and toll existing roads. They are literally out stopping traffic in already horrible traffic asking people stupid questions about traffic and travel habits. Many of the real solutions have been thrown in the trash; things that the tax payer has already paid for did not get done because the funds were "spent elsewhere". They do not want the logical solutions, they want money making tolls, and in many cases they want money making tolls on roads that belong to the tax- payers. It is like a Republican U.S. Senator from the Great State of Texas, great man that he is, told me; he knows what is good for me, he knows what is good for the rest of the people in Texas and that is how he would vote. It doesn't matter what I wanted or you wanted, it mattered what he wanted. I asked him what happened to representative government. He responded with he would do what was best for Texas and Texans even if that is not what Texas and Texans want. You see, San Antonio's City Council, like our dishonorable Senator, is smarter than you, more caring than you, more honest than you, knows better how to spend your money and raise your children than you do, and they are dead set to tie you down with the chains of slavery and poverty for your own good. Yes, the San Antonio City Council has learned well from their mentors and those whom they idolize in Washington, D. C. Rumor has it that sometime in the not too distant future they would like to change the name to San Antonio, D.C.
