Have a Prayer and a Plan

This past week we saw the mob violence at the Wisconsin State Fair. If you are not familiar with the story, a mob of youths began attacking and violently beating fair patrons, some were knocked off of their motorcycles, and some were beaten and stomped. We've seen other "flash mobs" around the country where a group will loot and rob stores and businesses, also attacking, beating, and robbing patrons. As the US economy continues to worsen we will probably see more and more of this type of behavior and worse. As moral, ethical, and economic conditions in the US continue to deteriorate some of this violence will probably spill over into Texas, which is another very good reason for Texas to get its house in order and secede from this belligerent monster and the effects of DC's unjust governance. You should always be prepared to defend yourself and yours at a State Fair, the Bank, and even in the "safety" of your own home. Do you and your family have a plan if you have a violent home invasion? How quickly can you access your firearm? How many attackers are there? What are they armed with? Do you know how to clear your house room by room? Should you attempt to? Do you remember the massacre at Luby's all those years ago? Could you have stopped it; or would you, and possibly your children, have been a victim? I am a strong advocate of carrying a weapon for self-defense. Check with your State on gun possession and carry laws. I strongly recommend you take some sort of firearms training as well as other methods of self-defense. Other methods of self-defense are fine in some situations, but unfortunately, there are times when nothing but a gun will do. You should also take a course on the use of force and deadly force and the legal ramifications of doing so, as well as the psychological effects of taking a human life. An excellent book for the beginner is Armed Response: A Comprehensive Guide to Using Firearms for Self-Defense by David Kenik.

This is not paranoia folks, it is the world we live in, and even if you are paranoid it doesn't mean that there is not someone out there coming to get you. Some people say "I hate guns and violence" to which I reply yeah, hav'n some mugger punk shoot you with a gun really stinks. I too detest violence, but it would do you well to remember that when in a fight, violence rules the day.

You have the right to protect yourself and a duty to protect your loved ones and little ones. Educate yourself, practice, train, stay alert to your surroundings, always have a plan, and pray you never need it. Always remember "when seconds count the police are minutes away."
