Texas was carved out of a wilderness. That's something that we must never forget. When you are building nations from the ground up there are bound to be casualties. One of those casualties was a Texas Ranger named James Coryell.
Coryell, a close friend of Jim Bowie, was ambushed in Falls County in 1837 and was killed. However, his final resting place was a mystery.
WOAI in San Antonio reports that a legend had surfaced that he was buried in Bull Hill Cemetary near Marlin. A grave was found that contained the remains of someone who fit Coryell's description. However, the DNA tests with a direct decendant of Coryell's came back negative.
