The Texas Nationalist Movement on Tuesday filed paperwork with the Texas Ethics Commission appointing a treasurer for the Texas Nationalist Movement Political Action Committee (TNM-PAC), signaling the organization's most significant venture into the legislative process in pursuit of Texas independence.
TNM president Daniel Miller said the TNM-PAC was formed "for the purpose of supporting and endorsing candidates at all levels that are in-line with the mission, vision and values of the Texas Nationalist Movement."
The TNM's stated goals are to secure and protect the political, economic and cultural independence of Texas; restore and protect a constitutional Texas; defend the inherent and inalienable rights of the people of Texas; and promote the values of Texas nationalism.
The organization has experienced an explosion of interest and membership since the Nov. 6 general elections, and has taken the forefront in the promotion of the idea of Texas independence.
Spokesmen for the organization have been interviewed numerous times by both local and national news organizations, further spurring interest.
On Tuesday, Miller debated Republican Party of Texas chairman Steve Munisteri and two liberal newsmen on National Public Radio's On-Point with Tom Ashbrook, and there was a wide divergence of opinion between Miller and Munisteri, in particular.
Miller said afterward it is interesting to note that the TNM's organization Facebook page now has more than 29,000 "likes" compared to slightly more than 20,000 for the RPT.
