Turn Texas Independent!

Everywhere I turn lately it seems like I'm hearing the words "CAN'T" and "WON'T." Sometimes it's people saying that Texas "can't" secede, or if they do it "won't work." Sometimes its people talking about the upcoming presidential election saying that they "won't" waste their vote on third party candidate Gary Johnson because he "can't" win. Everywhere I turn it seems like I'm presented with an excuse and reason about why things aren't getting done.
These same people are the ones who will not take action to solve their problem. It seems like it's always worse for someone else, or that someone else out there can fix it. Here is the simple truth; locking yourself into a "can't" and "won't" attitude will never enable you to achieve a positive result. Remember the old adage "if everyone else jumped off a bridge...?" Letting others tell you what to do or what to believe is very similar to that story.
In 1492 conventional wisdom said that the world was flat. Today we know that to be a very inaccurate statement because Columbus dared to stand up and challenge popular culture. The same could be said about anything else, for instance the upcoming presidential election. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson is on the ballot in 47 states, and could easily defeat incumbent President Obama and Governor Romney in both the popular vote & Electoral College, had the people not already accepted his defeat and status as an "unviable candidate" presented to the public by the media.
All of the above holds true for Texas. I see many statistics and hear many voices proclaiming support for secession and a Free & Independent Republic of Texas, yet everywhere I turn Texans are unwilling to commit to that belief citing Texas v. White, or saying "yeah, that worked out so well last time" or even worrying about the possibilities of US economic sanctions or military action. These people have already committed to failure.
Many others are concerned with things and policies which will affect a future independent Texas, and rightfully so, however there is a time and a place to decide those things. Many Texans tend to forget that during the time between the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico and Sam Houston taking the reigns as the first President of the Republic of Texas that we had in place an interim government. This interim government was lead by interim President David G. Burnett and Vice-President Lorenzo de Zavala, and although short lived, was charged with completing the revolution against Mexico and getting Texas up and on its feet as a nation. Imagine where Texas would be today if these men failed to commit to action. Today we already have many things in place which we can start off with such as a Constitution and a modern Texas will not face the same challenges as did our 1836 colonial counterpart.
The primary objective of the Texas Nationalist Movement is not to re-create a microcosm of the United States within the borders of our state; it is the independence of Texas. It is not harmony within the Union or a return to the proper system of Federalism. It is not to return the Federal Government... It does not involve the Federal Government in any shape form or fashion... It is to restore the Republic of Texas to its rightful status as an independent nation-state, guaranteeing the individual rights of every Texan, and achieve our place as a nation among nations. If we are to be successful in seeing Texas once again raise its head among the nations and achieving a Free & Independent Republic of Texas, then we must not continue to shoot ourselves in the foot by telling ourselves we "can't" or won't."
If you have not yet done so, I would encourage you to obtain and read a copy of Daniel Miller's book Line in the Sand. Inside it the reader will find that many factual answers are available to just about every excuse one could throw against the case for Texas independence. You can find it available for free download at www.texasnationalist.com.
The time for Texas is now. We must refuse to accept what we are told that we cannot do or achieve. We must not accept defeat before we have even begun to fight. It is time that each of us draws our own line in the sand, just like Travis did at the Alamo, and take a stand. It is time we start telling ourselves, "Yes, we can secede!"
With honor & for Texas,
