On the Border

It's a matter of 'When', not 'If'.

Have you taken a long hard look at the happenings just the other side of the Rio Grande? Every day the Zetas, and other paramilitary organizations associated with the Mexican drug cartels, are slaying innocent civilians, police, and members of the Mexican military. Whether it is that the victims were just in the wrong place at the wrong time, or attempting to stop/slow the flow of drugs through their country into ours, it is nothing short of mass murder on a daily basis.

While averaging over twenty-seven dead per day in the last year in Mexico, attributed to these drug cartels and their hired guns, it's safe to say that the Mexican government is losing their fight to gain control over their own lands. Fellow Texans I ask you, how long before the madness and carnage crosses that narrow body of water the U.S. government considers a border between Texas and Mexico? Who's to stop them? The U.S. CBP officers are spread thinner than the hairs on an old mangy dog. To be kind, they don't have the bodies to catch more than two out of five illegal crossing "migrant workers". Out gunned and outnumbered, the brave men and women of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol have an impossible task before them WHEN this issue decides to cross into Texas as part of a massive attack to move massive amounts of drugs into our state all at once.

We know that the safety of Texans, and other Americans living along the border have been compromised already. Several, which we know of by the grace of a biased media, have been slain in recent months all along the Mexican border, though it's not a recent development. The federal government would lead us to believe our border concerns are based strictly on "our hatred toward hard working immigrants" as they flood into the country unchecked to "do the jobs no one else will do". Though it is a part of the issue, the safety of our citizenry is, or should be, our number one priority.

This "open door, open arms" nonsense allowed and/or encouraged by U.S. government policy is something that cannot be tolerated any longer by Texans, period! It is a signed invitation to the gangs and drug cartels to, "Come on in. The water is nice, and our citizens will pay the tab."

I refuse to lay the responsibilities for the safety of our citizens and border security at the feet of the federal government alone. Our state government leaders have done just as much to continue to allow these atrocities, and nothing to seal our borders. Sure, we hear plenty of chatter, and see the smoke about how Governor Rick Perry and on down the state government pipe, plan to take actions of their own on Texans' behalf, but we are plumb tired of the noise and the stench.

With a free and independent Texas, we can not only close our borders as we deem fit to task and dictate the terms in which immigrants become a valuable/tax paying part of our great and powerful nation, but we can most importantly dispose of the garbage the drug trade and gangs bring along in a timely, iron fisted, and cost effective manner.
